Blade Runner 2099 series announced by Amazon Studios

It looks like a good moment for the cyberpunk movement. A new series set after the events of the Blade Runner movies has been announced. It’s titled Blade Runner 2099 (not 2077?) and will be headed by series creator and famed Sci-Fi film director, Ridley Scott.

No information has been released publicly on the cast, characters or plot, but the series is a live-action series, and not an animated entry like the Blade Runner: Black Lotus anime series.

“The original Blade Runner, directed by Ridley Scott, is considered one of the greatest and most influential science-fiction movies of all time, and we’re excited to introduce Blade Runner 2099 to our global Prime Video customers. We are honored to be able to present this continuation of the Blade Runner franchise, and are confident that by teaming up with Ridley, Alcon Entertainment, Scott Free Productions, and the remarkably talented Silka Luisa, Blade Runner 2099 will uphold the intellect, themes, and spirit of its film predecessors.”

A release date has not been announced yet.
