Ubisoft announces 3 flagship Assassin’s Creed games!

We posted an article about rumors surrounding the Assassin’s Creed franchise and it’s now official: three new flagship Assassin’s Creed games are in the works.

The first is the one that Ubisoft was forced to confirm early, Assassin’s Creed Mirage. It is set in Baghdad and features Basim, the player’s mentor in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It will show his early years, from street thief to master assassin. Ubisoft Bordeaux is leading development, and the game is expected to be out sometime in 2023.

The next game is set in Japan. Currently going under Codename Red, the Assassin’s Creed Japan story will center on a ninja, which means that we will get to act out our shinobi assassin fantasies in this entry. This entry will be developed by Ubisoft Quebec.

The last game has even less details, but so far we know it as Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe. The official Twitter feed states that the only thing they can say about it is “We work in the dark…” Rumors point to the possibility of it being around the time of the Holy Roman Empire and set in Europe with a story that possibly revolves around witch hunts.

In other news, Ubisoft is leaning hard on their successful franchises. They have more The Division and Rainbow Siege games in the works. They have also teamed up with Netflix to add some games to their gaming platform (honestly not sure why Netflix is dabbling in games, but oh well). And apparently Assassin’s Creed Infinity is some sort of platform to unite the Assassin’s Creed franchise. We can only hope that we’ll be able to jump between games like jumping through each point in history, if that makes sense. If you remember the original Assassin’s Creed, the story centered around something sort of like genetic memory which allowed a person in the present to see the events through the eyes of an ancestor. So this jumping from history to history (game to game, really) would make sense, lore-wise.
